“Which is better older or younger…“
Old benches in a young park…
As children, we had to earn money for ice cream, chewing gum, a soccer ball… Somehow… We from our building sold comic books, duplicates of football championship pictures, and the like…
The trade took place in our park “Klasije”… On benches, as urban equipment… The benches were old-fashioned, made of wooden blocks measuring approx. 5×8 cm, densely placed…
The legs and backrests were made of steel strip profiles 1 cm thick… It seems to me that they would not be damaged, even if an elephant sat on them…
The iron parts of the benches were painted identically with some neutral color… But that’s why the wooden parts of each bench were painted in different pastel colors…
On those benches, we often saw young couples in love… I don’t remember seeing a broken bench back then…
Urban equipment …
Today, everything has changed, we people, and so has urban equipment… From materials, design, installation location… Unfortunately, the quality has also changed, but for the worse…
There are no longer solid constructive parts of urban equipment… Most of it is made of low-quality materials, which will not last long… The duration of new benches, waste receptacles, public lighting poles, protective fences, and information and advertising boards also depends on the culture of young people…
But that’s why the design of the new urban furniture is much better, more beautiful and of higher quality than before… Maybe this creative design will reduce the number of destroyed equipment…
How to protect them from destruction…
Beautiful and modern urban equipment is an additional space refresher…
