As long as there is no war…
Cardboard huts…
As children, we played wars… We played Police and Thieves, Cowboys and Indians, Partisans and Germans… We had to have our own forts… Military buildings… Tree branches, covered with cardboard…
Those were wonderful days… No worries, no thoughts…
Military buildings…
Big money is given to the construction of military buildings in the world… And what happens to them when the war ends, the technology of weapons changes or something else…
Those military buildings are decaying, as well as the money invested in them… For years…
What to do with them? Leave them as monuments, tear them down or convert them into a new function… Some say this, some say that… I am personally against the memory of war days because these memories are the basis for new wars…
It is best to convert them into something new, in order to forget the events of the war…
Existing or new content…
Here in Slavonski Brod, Croatia, the existing Baroque Brod Fortress began to be repurposed, even before 1995… It was a border fortress on the Sava river and at the same time a monument of zero categories and landmarks.
Between 1715 and 1780, the large Imperial and Royal Slavonian border Fortress Brod was built.
The JNA army was in it in the former state.
Dilapidated spaces began to be repurposed into new facilities… Such as the Art Gallery, Gymnasium, Hospitality Facilities, and Tambourine Museum,…
That change of purpose continues to this day… The fortress is getting a new look in the existing dimensions… And of course the original design and architecture…
Nice and useful…
