I remember the beginning of working in the company Projektbiro in Slavonski Brod, Croatia… In the 80s of the last century, that company had three employed administrative staff…

 

They typed various textual parts of the project that we experts designed… For the needs of architects, builders, electrical engineers, mechanical engineers…

 

They wrote those texts with typewriters, even though they did not know our professional subject…

That’s how it was in the beginning, until they became sufficiently familiar with our material…

 

Occasionally they even pointed out our professional mistakes… Great, that was a confirmation of their knowledge…

In addition to them, there was also the secretary of the director, and another person who worked on borrowing materials for us designers…

 

Administrative staff …

When I opened my private Project Office “Alter ego”, aware of the importance of administrative work, I immediately hired a secretary…

She performed all administrative tasks.

 

From phone calls, rewriting textual parts of projects (technical description, cost estimates, offers, invoices, …), maintenance of business premises, arranging business meetings, keeping internal accounts, …

 

Although everything was important to me, it meant a lot to me to make various phone calls for me…

 

Mutually respectful relations …

The administrative staff is the right hand of us professionals, so mutual respect is important…
