“Are there ugly buildings …“
In general …
As a high school student, I did my first internship at the Museum of Slavonski Brod… in 1976… Together with a classmate… And she ended up graduating in architecture…
The Uglu Museum premises were visually cold and anemic… White stone floor slabs, walls, and ceilings embodied in white… Lighting, simple and cold… Discreet…
The exhibition exhibits various tools and weapons, the remains of vessels, animal bones, etc., related to the Sava River that passes through our city…
From the outside, the building was in the Art Nouveau style, with a calm old facade … The building was not designed as a museum, but as an office, which was used for the needs of the museum…
The eerie 15-day stay there passed slowly… We didn’t do anything, nor did we learn anything…
We only listened to the Beatles…
Ugly museums …
At the Faculty of Architecture and Urban Planning, I had to take the Urban Planning and Design exam a couple of times… And that was because of the Museum by the Miljacka River in Sarajevo (Bosnia and Herzegovina)…
I didn’t know the difference between the old historical and modern Museums… Nor where they are located in Sarajevo…
Looking through architectural magazines and the Internet, I concluded that the buildings of the Museum are the ugliest… They do not fit into the existing environment at all… on the contrary, they drastically deviate from it…
Both in terms of design and material… As if the architect designed them as a punishment or as a punishment…
Mostly tin cubism…
