While the older boys smoked in the basement or in the park, the task of us younger ones was to look after them…

 

How?

 

Well, we kept watch, if any of their parents or neighbors came by… We had secret warning signs…

Then they would hide cigarettes and other evidence…

 

Broken Alarm …

During my childhood, alarms, sirens and the like were rarely heard… Most often it was firefighters who had some kind of emergency intervention…

Firefighting…

 

Although as children we used to shake the car on purpose to activate the alarm…

Today, fifty years later, everything is buzzing with various sounds… Due to the development of technology and marketing…

 

I won’t list what warns everyone, how, who, for what and why… and that’s okay…

 

But the worst thing is when the alarms go off by themselves, and they didn’t detect “danger”… As a matter of fact, we citizens don’t even know if someone broke into the Bank and is robbing it, or if there is a malfunction in the Alarm…

 

So none of the citizens even reacts…

And why would an unarmed person prevent an armed thief…

 

Here in Croatia, once a month exactly at 12 o’clock, sirens are tested to alert citizens… About fifty meters from my apartment…

I remember the war with a smile… It’s not a pleasant feeling… 

 

Lucky that the Alarm broke…

 

Heads, like a drum …

We humans have started walking like zombies, our heads are full of various sounds, alarms, codes, passwords…

 

We are becoming robots…
