“Don’t smoke…“
Secret smoking…
As kids, we smoked in the basement of our building… That was our smoking area… Secretly, so no one could see us… The older guys taught us how to smoke “correctly”… With smoke inhalation, all the way to the lungs and by blowing into the mouth or nose… This must have lasted 5-6 seconds…
Some of us made mouthpieces or pipes…
We got cigarettes from older boys… or we took them from our parents… Some even bought them… We weren’t allowed to take them home, so we hid them somewhere in the basement…
We were young and naive… Four or five of us were smoking in the basement of the building, as if from a chimney… Smoke could be felt and seen coming out of the basement through a window or staircase…
We were discovered and our smoking career ended ingloriously…
Smoking area…
We, kids, were the forerunners of smoking areas… Even today, smoking is not allowed in public spaces, except for designated areas… And in hotels, restaurants, cafes…
As prisoners, smokers must go to special areas-boxes exposed to the public and public criticism…
I’m an ex-smoker… I haven’t smoked for 13 years… But I feel that smokers are treated as less valuable people… Even politicians support same-sex unions more than smokers…
I’m interested in the reason…
Non-smoking area…
As architects, when designing, we must take care of smoking areas… Inside buildings, as well as in public areas… All in the interest of non-smokers and their areas…
By separating, we may be jeopardizing someone’s rights in terms of equality… Of course, when smokers smoke, they endanger the physical health of non-smokers…
Likewise, people living in same-sex communities endanger the mental health of normal people…
I believe that soon we will have to arrange spaces for people living in same-sex communities…
Or maybe for those who aren’t…
