…”… is like a building’s clothing in a functional and aesthetic sense…

Collecting hay as a reward for excellent success at school…

As children, during the school holidays, my brother and I went to our uncle’s house in Lika…

It is a wooded area in Croatia… Nature is beautiful… clear streams and rivers, green forests, blue sky… The people of Lika would say: “Better than the sea” if the Dalmatians didn’t hear them…

Among other occupations, such as leading and looking after cows and sheep for grazing, my brother and I helped the adults in other jobs as well…

Such as, for example, turning the swath of grass to dry it, gathering the dried grass, and loading it into a cart… That cart was driven by oxen…

My brother had a mowing tractor so that part of the job went quite quickly… The worst part was our final…

After bringing in the hay, it had to be unloaded into the attic space… The best part of that job was for the domestic cattle when they ate it… And for us when we slept in the attic during the summer nights…

In the hay…

Horticulture in architecture …

At the Faculty of Architecture and Urban Planning, we learned about horticulture in the Urban Spatial Planning course… It is a very important element in designing and planning…

Grass, low vegetation, bushes, trees, etc. have the function of improving the environment of built buildings… It reduces the negative effects of weather conditions… It protects from wind, ice, rain, and snow, and increases the cohesion of the earth… And enriches the underground life of the fauna. ..

It further beautifies the environment of the building…

Here in Slavonski Brod (Croatia), not enough effort is put into landscaping… No grass is planted on the surrounding land… It is roughly planned and left as a field…

We wait for the grass to multiply by itself… Mostly it’s a weed…

Some “experts” plan parks without trees that should provide shade and with gravel instead of grass… Such people should be deprived of their diplomas… And the right to engage in these activities…

“Work and non-work of the City Administration…”

What’s even sadder is that the aforementioned individuals supposedly receive professional recognition for their “work”… And the citizens have to sit on sunny benches, without shade… With children who, instead of on the grass, play in the gravel “Park”…

Very little greenery is interpolated into the city’s urban zone. Native healthy and useful trees and bushes are cut down. And newly imported greens are planted. They have never existed in these climatic areas.

Politics, in this way, destroy the architectural profession, without consequences… Politics should be thrown out of all professions… It seems that it was invented by uneducated people to give themselves. And others the opportunity to decide on something they have no idea about…

It’s a disease…
