“Air danger in peace…

Decorating the facades of buildings …

A few years after the end of the Homeland War, the facades of buildings began to be renovated… Not only those that were damaged in the war but also those that were deteriorating due to dilapidation…

Some investments refer to private houses financed by the owners, and some to public ones… And that to buildings owned by the state, county, city, municipality...

The positive difference was visible…

No one even suspected that this would be one of the reasons for pedestrians to be attacked from the air…

Attacked pedestrians…

I remember the earthquake in Slavonski Brod in 1964… I was 4 years old then, sitting with my brother in the yard of our building… Right next to the building…

Bricks started falling from the crown of the building, next to our heads…

Since then I have been traumatized by the air raids…

It often happens that some part of the building falls on the footpath, which is used by pedestrians…

The attack on pedestrians with bricks from the cornice of an old building happened almost thirty years ago…

The brick fell on the awning of the terrace of the cafe, bounced off it, and fell right in the middle of the road…

Good thing it didn’t fall on someone’s head or car…

Guarantee of performed works…

The reasons for parts of the building falling onto the footpath are various… The dilapidation of the building that has not been maintained or the unprofessional execution of finishing works…

When these works happen even during the warranty period, they are not removed in a hurry… They stand as a potential danger for pedestrians, disabled people, and small children in strollers…

Not to mention that the protective fence is often not marked and lit at all… I have almost hit it several times because the mesh wire is hard to see at night…
