Sarajevo, my love…
It was back in 1980… I was in the first year of the Faculty of Architecture in
Sarajevo…
I was waiting for Friday the 13th, as lottery results…
The end of the first year was approaching, so we hurriedly prepared for the exams…
The terms were already known. They were posted at the Student Service, beautiful
buildings Faculty, with surrounding park…
I never liked history. Neither in primary nor in secondary school…. Oh, by God, neither
faculty. I was more interested in the future…
Today I will tell you a case, how nothing should be feared in advance…
Entrance examination…
The Faculty of Architecture, by chance, I enrolled in Sarajevo… I also applied in
Zagreb and Sarajevo. Just in case…
Since the entrance exam, as well as the snow results, were in Sarajevo before the
entrance exam Zagreb, I didn’t even go to Zagreb…
From Slavonski Brod to Sarajevo is about 200 km. When traveling to the reception
exam, on the train I met another group of future architecture students who are
also went to the reception…
It was destiny…
When we passed the reception, one of them from Crvenka (Republic of Serbia)
became my roommate.
All the years of studying we hung out and stayed good.
Even today… and we never quarreled…
Student days…
I lived privately in one house… There were three of us roommates. The landlady had a
beautiful one house, flowers, and dogs…
I was a hard-working student. College was hard… There were a lot of exercises to draw,
and the girl, current wife Sanja, I stayed in Slavonski Brod…
I loved architectural drawing and architectural photography.
I bought myself a drawing board and a camera. For painting beautiful buildings…
They studied and drew day and night… Home to Slavonski Brod, I barely managed to go
every second week… Because of the girl, but not on Friday the 13th, of course…
The first architectural exercise…
I remember my project in the first exercise on the subject of Architectural Construction…
Although it was not Friday the 13th, in less than fifteen days from the beginning of the first year
we were given the task to design a gas station….
We didn’t even know how to walk around the faculty building yet, and that was the first project right away.
We all had the same task. I didn’t know if he should laugh or cry… I immediately
became serious and began to think.
Gods and draw…
From that first exercise to this day, I have always strived to make my drawings and
the architectural design of future buildings will be as different from others as possible
and as creative as possible…
It always slowed me down, unlike other students, but that’s why my results were
creative architecture portfolio…
Just let tomorrow’s Friday the 13th pass…
Of course, I did not pass the subject of History of architecture on the first exam
term…
I didn’t pass or expect from the first…
As a young loving couple… It can’t be good at first… Well, on repair…
So am I…
I have been preparing for a long time… I am more for natural and tangible objects. I
can’t study History of architecture by heart.
From other subjects, as an Architecture design, I was great.
On the drawing board on which I was preparing, the day before I wrote: “Just for
tomorrow to pass”…
That was June 12, 1980. years. Thursday…
And it passed… And that day and that exam. And now I’m shivering as I write this…
Uhhhh…
I hope this content has helped you not to be afraid of anything, in advance … Nothing at
all …
