Artificial intelligence of architects…

“My people, is it possible…

Programs for architectural design…

Sometime in 1990, in my project office, I first tried using “intelligent” AutoCAD, as an architectural design program… I think it was AutoCAD 1…

It was very difficult…

I started learning how to draw a line, then a double line, and so on… Everything I need to draw technical drawings of a building…

The lengths of the lines were determined by entering the starting and ending coordinates (X, Y) … it was a pain…

I gave up on that “good” program very quickly… Later I realized that it is actually a “Drawing board”… That it can’t do anything on its own, even with my help, because it doesn’t have that option…

When you draw floor plans, you have to quote them “manually”… And he didn’t have the ability to display the projected building in 3D…

Passionately…

Very quickly I switched to other more intelligent programs…

Artificial intelligence…

Until 1996, I was doing architectural projects in Corel Draw graphics program… It was better, faster, and easier than AutoCAD, although it was not an architectural program…

The closest I got to artificial intelligence in architectural design was the Chief Architect program…

It had the option to automatically generate the sizes and arrangement of the desired windows… Automatic floor plan dimensioning in a fraction of a second… Also it automatically generates spatial views…

It automatically generated the quantities of materials, as well as the cost sheet… The program also had some other automatic options, such as the generation of the floor plan of the foundation, roof structure, and roof surfaces…

For me, that was the beginning of artificial intelligence in architecture

And Architects, as technological surplus…

Recently, when artificial intelligence is mentioned, I ask the question: What will be the consequences of its application in architecture? Who will control it?

What will happen to young architects?

Will we be redundant technologists???

I hope this content has helped you to think and take appropriate action.

Of course, with the competent services in charge of solving such cases in your area…

In other words, do you have similar cases and how do you experience and solve them?

Conclusion:

“Yes, yes, it’s been around for a long time, we just weren’t aware…”
