The town of Cernik is about fifty kilometers from Slavonski Brod…
Every morning we just traveled by train to that castle and back… That survey lasted two or three weeks… Then we had to draw its existing condition…
It was not easy to measure or draw that Kulmer castle… It had a basement, ground floor, first floor, attic…
Its interior was all in arches, vaults,… From the outside, it was not a harmonious castle…
Harmonious castles…
The Greek pyramids are anemic… Cold… No heat, unlike these castles… You can feel the heat radiating from these castles… How is that?
Why can’t such castles be built today… With so many expert architects and builders, computer applications, and 3D design…
And, before, you could do all that without anything…
The old castles are harmonious, dominant, and monumental, powerful… No kitsch…
What is the secret?
