“The fire is burning, now inside us…“
A fire in my building…
Yes, as a ten-year-old I put out a fire in our building…
It was winter… All of us in our building heated ourselves with wood or oil… Nothing better than when, as children, we came home from playing outside in the snow… We didn’t even feel our legs…
When we arrived at the house, we put them together with the socks in the oven to warm up… Ah, dear…
Like most good things, this one has bad ones…
Namely, some tenants put all the hot ashes from the furnace into tin containers for waste…. It was only a matter of days when something would catch fire…
That’s how it was… In the middle of the night, I heard some commotion in the stairwell… It was the tenants of our building and my parents…
A fire broke out in our dump… Hot ash ignited the paper in the waste container…
Behind the dream, sober and cool, I poured a bottle of water and went to put out the fire… I was a real Cold fireman…
Cold firefighters…
Like all other emergency services and firefighters, they operate in risky circumstances… For their lives… Theirs and those they save from the elements of fire…
All of them must be composed and cool-headed in every situation… And without panic…
From receiving the call, organizing the move, while driving, until the end of the intervention… But it’s not easy…
Because of even the slightest mistake, an injury, or eventually death… Their own or those they save from the fiery element… Even in the heat, they must keep a cool head…
And always, like warriors, they become heroes only when they die…
Fire extinguishers and people…
As in all activities, firefighters have their own tools and devices that help them localize fires… We all already know about them…
The only thing that remains unknown to us is how people switch off in order to keep a cool head…
