Nature …

I grew up in a settlement in Slavonski Brod… We lived there until I was three years old…

Without city water and city sewage… It was in the 60s…

 

I don’t remember many of those communal details… We didn’t even have a real bathroom…

But that’s why we had a real Polish toilet…

Behind the house… All faeces and waste water went to drainage earth channels that were along the dirt road…

 

Unfortunately, even today, some parts of our city do not have city sewerage… But that’s why they have brick bathrooms within the house… And septic tanks or drains to earthen open canals…

 

It’s natural, but it stinks… Especially during the summer…

 

Field toilet …

And there, before brick bathrooms, there were field toilets outside the houses… My late grandparents who lived in the village of Podvinje near Slavonski Brod had such a field toilet outside the house…

 

My aunt in the orchard above Podvinje also had a toilet like that… And my uncle in Lika…

 

Such toilets were made of wooden construction, the size of approx. 1 square meter… They had an opening for ventilation in the door, most often in the shape of a heart…

 

The door did not have a classic key, but was locked with the help of a piece of wood that was nailed to the door frame…

For holidays and some celebrations there was also toilet paper in it…

 

Civilization in space too…

Today, when astronauts fly into space and have a toilet in their rocket, today I have to talk about our civilization on earth…

 

We should not forget that many residents of poor countries today do not even have an outdoor toilet…

 

Shame…

 

It is important that there is money for weapons…
